Spider-Man: Brand New Day Has Bestowed Us Blessings
There are many things you could discuss about Spider-Man: Brand New Day.
Peter Parker. Spider-Man. The villains. The action. The future of the MCU.
I, however, would like to discuss the most important development in cinema.
Spoiler alert.
An angel has revealed herself to humanity.
And she has taken the form of Jean Grey.
Because seeing Sadie Sink as Jean Grey is one thing. Seeing how beautiful she looks as Jean Grey is an entirely different matter.
The red hair. The look. The presence. The whole Jean Grey aesthetic just works absurdly well on her. She somehow looks exactly like someone who belongs beside the X-Men while simultaneously looking like Marvel accidentally hired an angel and put her in a superhero movie.
At some point you are supposed to remember that Spider-Man is also in this film.
I am trying.
This was meant to be Peter Parker's movie, and yet somebody involved looked at the production and apparently decided:
“What if we also bestowed beauty, grace and divine revelation upon the audience?”
Thank you.
I understand the vision now.
I entered expecting Spider-Man.
I witnessed Jean Grey.
Cinema has been saved.
